Two follow-up project applications stemming from CHARTS project and the 'Thessalia
Charter'have been submitted by CHARTS project partners and further partners in the first Call of the new Interreg Europe programme, viz:
CHRISTA: Culture & Heritage for Responsible, Innovative and
Sustainable Tourism Actions, led by ECTN - the European Cultural Tourism Network, international association based in Brussels, Belgium,
focusing on: Intangible heritage, Industrial heritage, Interpretation facilities, Innovation
and digitisation (4Is), good practices and policy instruments in 9 EU destinations
and
SMART-DEST: Sustainable Mobility, Accessibility and Responsible
Travel - Delivering Efficient Sustainable Tourism with low-carbon transport, led by Pafos Regional Board of
Tourism, Cyprus,
towards SMART Destinations in Europe, focusing on: Intermodality facilities for visitors inc. ICT & Mobile Aps; Accessible tourism for all; Investments in
low-carbon transport systems for mode shift to sustainable mobility options, inc. ElectroMobility, Cycling & Walking; Application of the European Tourism Indicators System (ETIS)
for sustainable destinations with extension to low-carbon solutions, in 10 EU destinations.
CHARTS Closing Conference has been linked to the EC Day initiative
21st September has become the European Cooperation Day (EC Day). On that day and several days around, hundreds of events all over Europe will showcase results of
European territorial cooperation projects. For the third time already, these events will highlight the benefits of territorial cooperation, also within INTERREG IVC projects. This initiative is
supported by the European Commission and the European Parliament.
