CHARTS project at Euromeeting 2014

On behalf of CHARTS, Partner European Cultural Tourism Network attended the XII Edition of the Euromeeting  2014 “Sustainable Tourism, Challenges and Opportunities in the 2014 - 2020 Planning Period”. Event was organized by Tuscany Region in cooperation with NECSTouR dedicated to comparing the European regions with respect to sustainable tourism projects and activities, enhancing cultural heritage and promoting tourism for everyone.

In order to continue networking with NECSTouR (the Network of European Region for Sustainable and Competitive Tourism), promoting project results to date and inviting NECSTouR to the Closing Conference of CHARTS project is very important, project Partnership participated at the XI Edition of Euromeeting 2013: Regional Policies for Sustainable and Competitive European Tourism on 13 December, 2013 in Committee of the Regions’ building - Rue Belliard.

Project Partnership was presented by President of European Cultural Tourism Network ECTN (Belgium) and Chairman of the Board of Vidzeme Tourism Association (Latvia).

Meeting, with presence of Mr. Pedro Ortun, Director of Commission Directorate, General for Enterprise and Industry, focused on the possible tourism investments within the European Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020 and gathered competent Regional Authorities, representatives of the European Institutions and tourism stakeholders in Brussels.

Tuscany, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Catalonia, CHARTS project partner Veneto Region, Istria and Valencia, presented how they mainstream the European tourism policy and integrate it in the new programming period, while the European Commission services illustrated the possible tourism investments within the ERDF, EARDF, and ESF.

Participation at this event gave opportunity to CHARTS and its Partners to obtain first-hand information on the financial opportunities offered by the full range of EU policies and spending programs in the cycle 2014 – 2020 what gives an opportunity to capitalize project outputs in the future and continue to develop sustainable tourism in Europe.

At the event project promotional materials were distributed and new contacts were established, such as European Cyclist Federation and Policy Advisor of Veneto Region Office in Brussels which kindly offered premises for CHARTS Charter - dissemination event in Brussels planned during Opend Days 2014 in October 2014.
